Philips Hue and Spotify Music are two very popular services, and they are amazing… Well, amazing… as long as you use them separately.
What would happen if you wanted to connect those two systems, both together? Actually, nothing really nice.
That’s the reason why I started to develop iLightShow for macOS, a very basic app that syncs light effects on top of the music rhythm, loudness and energy. It’s almost been one year since I’ve used that app for my personal use.
Then, I saw several messages from different forums asking both Spotify and Philips for that feature to be implemented. Hence, I launched my app on the Mac App Store.
v1.0.0 – Pretty basic app, though…
Unlike any other classic Hue app that you can find on the App Store, iLightShow is not primarily based on a real-time audio analysis algorithm. Instead, it’s directly connected to Spotify services and knows exactly how the lights should perform during all the songs, even before the music’s got actually played.
Then, I’ve been asked to add some simple features like selecting the brightness and colors that will be sent to the lights, I immediately updated the app to add those features. Free alternative of spotify with no subscription.
After several requests from users, I moved the developments to iOS and I’ve just released the first iOS version few days ago on the AppStore!
I must admit that the app still have some issues as of the plurality of Hue and iOS devices that I can’t afford to test at home. https://gaeaxtb.weebly.com/blog/spotify-premium-84-82-apk. Fortunately, I’ve got some cool users that immediately got in touch with me for feedbacks! So please, feel free to contact me on Twitter, Facebook or email if you face any issue, or have any suggestion ?
